FacilitiesThe environment for our pupils to learn and grow
Crompton House Church of England school opened in 1926 in a manor house donated to Manchester Diocese by the Crompton family. The original building still remains with the lower floor being used for the main Reception and offices and the upper floor for classrooms. The building has been extensively developed and extended over the years to form our current Administration, Ballard, Clegg, Lees and Milne blocks. Separate buildings have also been constructed:
- The Sixth Form Centre built in the 1970s
- The Selwyn block built in the 1990s and extensively extended in 2003/2004
- The Sports Hall, completed in 2002
- The 3G pitch opened in 2015
The Arts, Music and Sport play an important part in the school and our facilities reflect this. We have a purpose built drama studio, a dance studio, 3 art classrooms and an art atrium where students can work independently on their art work in an area flooded with light. We have 3 music practice rooms where individual or small group work takes place as well as a larger rehearsal space for our orchestra and bands, 2 music classrooms and a music technology room. The school hall has a stage where productions and concerts are held. The hall can hold up to 400 seated guests.
Our indoor sports facilities include a sports hall and a gymnasium, whilst our outdoor facilities include a grass pitch, 2 tennis and netball courts, and our brand new 3G pitch.
Post 16 Facilities
The sixth form centre houses not only a common room for sixth form students but also IT facilities, study “pods” for individual or small group work, and its own catering facilities.
Most of our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and many are dedicated spaces for areas of the curriculum and include specialist equipment, such as the 2 Design Technology rooms, 2 Food Technology rooms, 11 Science laboratories and 9 IT rooms.
We also have 2 large dining halls where breakfast, mid morning snacks and lunches are prepared on site each day for students, staff and visitors.
There is central pastoral Hub where support is provided for our students. The Heads and Assistant Heads of House are based here, along with our Inclusion team. We have a medical facilities suite where the school nurse (Matron) is located.
We have a well stocked Learning Zone with an IT suite where reference materials and equipment is available for student use. The facility also provides a quiet controlled space for students to concentrate on their studies.
