Our SupportersContributing to the success of Crompton House School
The Crompton House community or family supports the work of the school throughout the year. Crompton House C of E School recognises that without this support we would not be able to provide the full and rich experience for our students. There are many ways that our community support us throughout the year:
- Parental donations
- Attending our events
- Providing work placements
- Gifts for prizes
- Fundraising activities
Our sincere thanks go to all in our community who have supported Crompton House School in becoming and reinforcing our position as one of the best schools in the North West. We would also like to express our gratitude to all those who support the school in other ways who remain anonymous.
In 2002 Governors launched an appeal to parents to raise funds for a major new building project: the new extension to a classroom block now known as Selwyn block. At that time the school was a Voluntary Aided Church school and as such, had to contribute 10% towards the cost of all building projects. For the extension to Selwyn block, this meant that we had to raise £200,000. Governors asked parents if they would contribute regular amounts to the school, starting at £1 per week per family. This fundraising initiative is continuing to this day (although now we ask for £1.50 per week per family).
We also ask if parents will sign a Gift Aid declaration when they contribute which means that the school can then claim back the equivalent of the income tax the donor has already paid for the amount of their donation.
Between 2002 and 2014 parents have donated in excess of £400,000 for the school and we have claimed a further £100,000 in Gift Aid. We are incredibly grateful to our supportive parents. Because of them, we have been able to:
- Build a 16 classroom extension to Selwyn block
- Extend the school hall to enable the whole school to come together
- Build an Art Atrium, a light and bright room for our art students to work in
- Upgrade all the school’s toilet facilities
- Create a student “hub” where most student services are based
- Provide a medical facilities room
- Provide a disabled toilet for students, staff and visitors
- Construct a state of the art 3G pitch
Without the tremendous support of parents, it would have been extremely difficult to finance these projects.
Our suppliers and neighbouring business help the school in various ways.
Some businesses donate prizes for our Christmas Fair or Spring Ball. These are used to raise funds, either by raffles or auctions, to support school activities including transport costs for our music groups to attend prestigious venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall or York Minster, or new kits for our many sports teams.
Other businesses work with the school by providing Work Experience placements for our Year 11 and Sixth Form students, or by allowing our Business Studies students to visit and find out how businesses work.
Our grateful thanks go to all these businesses for their generosity and support. They make a big difference to our school and significantly enhance our students’ learning experiences.
If you wish to donate to the school, you can do so by completing the standing order form and gift aid declaration:
