Andalusia Spain Trip 2015MFL Department
Our trip to Andalusia was a great success. Our main aim was to give the pupils the opportunity to experience real Spanish life and culture and give them the opportunity to speak Spanish with the locals. It was exciting to watch the pupils communicate with the natives and we felt a great sense of pride watching them do this successfully.
We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Andalusia. Our hotel was in Torremolinos, quite close to the neighbouring resort of Benalmádena. The hotel was ideally placed and the pupils also had the opportunity to play team games on the beach in the evening.
On the first day we arrived, unpacked and had lunch. This consisted of a buffet style lunch and there was something for everyone to enjoy. We explored the area surrounding the hotel in the afternoon and in the evening we took part in a flamenco dance lesson.
On the next day we took a trip to Granada and pupils enjoyed taking in the sights as we made our way to the top of the hill to see the famous Alhambra Palace. We also visited the cathedral and the pupils had the opportunity to shop and experience the culture.
The following day, we visited a farm and the staff spoke to the pupils in Spanish for a large part of the day. This really helped with their Spanish language skills and also their ability to make small animals and cups out of clay. We learned some new Spanish songs and dances too. It was a fun day! Later we went to the Sea Life Centre in Benalmádena and the pupils enjoyed a guided tour in Spanish.
On the last day, we went into Malaga and visited the Picasso museum and then we went to the harbour and enjoyed walking around the market stalls and speaking to the Spanish people there. We flew home later that day. It was such a fabulous and memorable trip. The pupils were so well behaved and were an absolute credit to the school! We look forward to next year!
