Government & Politics trip to Westminster

Year 12 Visit to Westminster

Year 12 had a brilliant day in Westminster on Friday 2nd October. A mixture of Politics, History and Law students had a tour of the Houses of Parliament and enjoyed seeing the House of Lords, House of Commons, the voting lobby, the Queen’s robing room and Westminster Hall. After the tour students and staff had an interactive workshop where they learnt the difference between ‘First Past the Post’ and Proportional Representation. Three students volunteered to be leaders of their own political parties and each party came up with policies they would support if they were in power.

After being fortified with a McDonalds lunch students walked to 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. We visited the Parliament shop and after racing for the train had a well-deserved rest on the journey home!
