Our Holocaust Memorial Week

Our weekly theme this week was Holocaust Memorial Day taking place on the 27th January. In assemblies students looked at this important time in more detail examining individuals who are often forgotten about, but who had an impact on the lives of everyday people at risk of persecution by the Nazis. Nicholas Winston, a British Stockbroker who saved 669 Jewish Children’s Lives was discussed this week.

Students also wrote on WriteaSmile postcards to pay respect for those who had died during this time, from poems, to prayers, and general words written as a sign of respect.

On the 26th of January classrooms shared a prayer with our students before switching on a battery powered candle. Parents and carers were also encouraged to safely light a candle and share this with our social media channels.
