Summer Fair 2015

On Saturday 27th June Crompton House held its 2015 Summer Fair. It was a perfect summer’s day and over 500 parents, friends and children had a lovely time on the school fields. For the younger ones there was a bouncy castle, face-painting, sand art, card making, a human fruit machine, a toy and book stall and the opportunity to throw wet sponges at Mr Dunkley, Mr Banks and Mr Holt. For the adults as well as all the other activities there was a plant stall and a bar!

Other activities included Beat the Goalie (many thanks to our 1st XI goalkeeper and head boy Jack McKie), a treasure hunt, ultimate lemons and “wack a rat”.

And for everyone there were lots of refreshments, including a barbecue with head cook Mr Newell, hot-dogs, samosas, pancakes, ice-cream, homebake, bottle and chocolate tombolas and a raffle.

There were some amazing two and three wheeled motorcycles on display.   Some in concours condition, some historic and some very modified!

Fantastic musical entertainment was provided by the school brass band conducted by Mr Leedale of the Oldham Music Centre and Many Shanker who sang, accompanying herself on the guitar.

Many thanks to all the parents, teachers, canteen staff, office staff, support staff and pupils who worked so hard to make the event so successful.   Thanks also to our fabulous site team who worked so hard “back-stage” building the gazebos and setting out all the stalls. None of this would have been possible without the organisational skills of our new Assistant Business Manager Mrs Young, who co-ordinated the whole event.

The winner of the signed Manchester United pennant in the Beat the Goalie Competition was Matthew B of Year 8.

The winners of the raffle are listed on the PTFA section of the website on the Summer Fair page.
