Tom Palmer - Children's author talks with Crompton House students

Tom Palmer is a brilliant children’s author who writes books about history and sport. In 2019 he won the Children’s Book Award for Armistice Runner, which was also nominated for the Carnegie Prize. His best known series are Football AcademyFoul Play and Roy of the Rovers.

He recently wrote an amazing book called After the War From Auschwitz to Ambleside which is inspired by the incredible true story of the Windemere Boys, a deeply moving novel about friendship and belonging having survived the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps.

Tom was set to visit our Year 7 and 8 students this month around Holocaust Memorial Day to talk to them about how he researches and develops his books, giving them creative story writing advice and answering questions. Unfortunately, this has had to be postponed for now. However, until he can visit Tom has sent the Crompton House community a lovely personal video which you can view below. You can also link to his website to view his fantastic online free resources here.

Thanks Tom and we look forward to seeing you in person very soon.
